So without further ado, today's topic is:
Where are your favorite places/environments to write?
Just like any normal person, I get up in the morning, get ready for my day, have breakfast, grab my coffee or tea, and then head off to the office. It just so happens that the commute to my office is up the stairs.
My office is a set apart place specifically for work, and I keep regular work hours. This helps me get into the mindset of writing, and helps to keep me from distractions and other procrastinations.
I've set up my office to be a comfortable environment that I enjoy going to. For me, the ideal writing environment is being surrounded by books. So my office also acts as an in home library with over three bookcases worth of books from various genres.
The room is also decorated in a gothic style with a lot of reds and browns--which helps me stay in the right mood for writing mysteries. This includes wrought iron candle sconces, Victorian style hanging lanterns, ancient style weaponry as decoration, and even a tapestry.
A large antique table, made out of an very large old wrought iron fireplace grate, provides a space where I can take notes and spread out papers and notecards to plan stories.
Lastly, my desk itself is an antique and I utilize two computer screen to make the writing process easier. I have a large comfortable desk chair that is a deep maroon to match the room. It is a wonderful environment to write in and it helps put me in the right mindset to write each day.
Unfortunately, I couldn't get a very good picture of my office--thanks to my poor camera skills--so I am unable to share that environment with you here. So take a look at the picture above to get a similar feel to my office--although mine is not nearly as fancy.
